Rhinoplasty

Rhinoplasty (nose-job) is a surgical procedure that reshapes the nose and enhances facial harmony.

What is this procedure?

Rhinoplasty, commonly known as a nose job, is a surgical procedure that reshapes the nose and enhances facial harmony. As a result, the appearance of the nose and face can be enhanced, and the function of the nose could be improved by this operation.

Rhinoplasty could be performed in two different ways:

Open or external approach: a small incision is made across the narrow bridge of skin between the nostrils called the columella, where it is harder to see. Connecting this incision to others inside the nose allows the surgeon to visualise the nose’s internal structure easily. Better exposure allows more accurate correction of deformities.

Closed or endonasal approach: the entire surgery is done through incisions inside the nose. This has several advantages, including no external scar, shorter surgery time and generally less swelling after surgery.

The techniques used to reshape the nose are decided before the operation. In some instances, such as secondary cases, cartilage parts may have to be taken from the ears or rib.
